Simon Pegg And Nick Frost Are About To Hunt Some Ghosts

It’s been fifteen years since Shaun of the Dead first premiered, and while that was the movie that gifted us the strangely beautiful subgenre of zombie romcoms, the most important thing about the film is that it marks the beginning of the Cornetto Trilogy. For those who don’t know or have never heard this name before, the Cornetto Trilogy is a collection of films directed by Edgar Wright and written by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost — the aforementioned Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013). And each film features a different flavor of Cornetto ice cream, hence the Cornetto Trilogy.

2013 doesn’t sound like it’s that long ago, but it’s definitely felt like a long time since Simon Pegg and Nick Frost teamed up to tackle zombies or cults or aliens or other weird, not-your-typical-afternoon happenings. And on that note, there is good news to be had!

The next addition to the list of Amazon Prime original series that are a little out there, like the angels and demons series Good Omens, is written by and starring the Cornetto boys themselves. In the upcoming comedy series, titled Truth Seekers, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg explore the world of paranormal investigators, but the rest of the details are still sparse.

Frost plays Gus, one half of a ghost-hunting duo who team up to uncover and film paranormal sightings across the U.K. in the series. They stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers, and abandoned hospitals using an array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos and share their adventures on an online channel. Their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, terrifying, and even deadly as the pair begin to uncover a conspiracy that could threaten the entire human race. (VIA VARIETY)

We’re not even sure who Simon Pegg’s character is yet, and the first season is set to go to production next month. But regardless of if he turns out to be the other half of Frost’s ghost hunting duo (which would be ideal, because come on, when are those two not a team) or some spirit that Frost’s character comes into contact with, it’s probably safe to say it’s gonna be a fun ride.
