Gay Of Thrones Season 8 Teaser

First Episode Will Premiere on Tuesday, April 16 with Subsequent Episodes Airing Every Tuesday on Funny Or Die.

Los Angeles, CA, April 10, 2019 – Funny Or Die’s two-time Emmy nominated, “Game of Thrones” popular recap series “Gay of Thrones” will be returning on Tuesday, April 16, it was announced today by Jonathan Van Ness in this video.

Created by Erin Gibson, “Gay of Thrones” began in conjunction with the third season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” and has aired every season since then. The series was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Short Form Variety series category in 2016 and 2018. Gibson was a writer/producer at Funny Or Die and pitched the idea to do a recap show after her and Van Ness would descriptively discuss and dissect the series while he was styling her hair. “I am very excited to blow out this last season of Gay of Thrones with the panache and fierceness that only Jonathan can bring to the screen,” said Gibson.

The look of the set changes year to year but the format has remained consistent. Each episode features a special guest getting his/her hair styled by Van Ness and together they recap the latest episode of “Game of Thrones” with clips interspersed throughout. Van Ness and Gibson watch the new “Game of Thrones” episodes together with a small team of writers who then spend Sunday night writing the show, followed by the shoot and post production for a quick turnaround to get it out. Some of Van Ness’ infamous nicknames for main characters have included Baby Barack Obama, Solange, Dr Evil, Brother D, Christina Aguilera and the artist formerly known as blonde Cher. Past guests have included George R.R. Martin, Margaret Cho, Rachel Bloom, D’Arcy Carden, Timothy Simons, Bryan Safi and Brad Goreski, among others.

‘Gay of Thrones’ was created by Gibson. Gibson and Van Ness, are executive producers. Gibson also directs all episodes.
