Everybody Shut Up, Eddie Murphy’s Going To Host SNL

Man, if anyone knows how to launch a great comeback, it’s Eddie Murphy.

It feels like it’s been a hundred years since we’ve seen or heard from Eddie Murphy, and that’s because, well — it kinda has been. He hasn’t appeared in a major blockbuster since Tower Heist in 2011, his last film was in the small-budget drama Mr. Church in 2016, and it’s been literal decades since he’s blessed us with a stand-up performance. In fact, his only recent appearance in well, any form, was on Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. and a 40-minute long episode was really only enough to make us miss him more.

BUT! There is good news!!

Eddie Murphy’s got a whooooole lot of fun stuff coming. Rumors of a $70 million stand-up special with Netflix have been floating around for a month or two, the long-awaited Coming to America sequel is in the works with James Earl Jones, Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes, and, of course, Arsenio Hall, AND…

HE’S GOING TO HOST SNL

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THIRTY-FIVE YEARS!!!

YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS

DECEMBER 21. IT’S A HOLIDAY MIRACLE. MARK YOUR CALENDARS.

There’s no other real information other than he will in fact be hosting, but WHO CARES. IT’S EDDIE FRICKIN’ MURPHY. IT’S GONNA RULE.
