This ‘Lion King’ Duet Between A Man And His Donkey Is… Beautiful

The highly anticipated live-action remake of Disney’s The Lion King premiered this month and I myself have not yet gone to see it, but I’m excited to become a broken weepy mess at the death of Mufasa again, this time in stunning CGI guaranteed to emotionally crush me just as much, if not more than the first time around.

Although the change in animation style resulted in some pretty stark contrasts between the remake and the 1994 original, the cartoon having the benefit of exaggerated facial expressions and more vibrant colors versus the live-action film’s incredible accuracy and attention to detail, one thing that both movies have in common is an amazing soundtrack. Music played a huge role in the 1994 film and was largely responsible for why the whole movie was just so goddamn epic, and the same can be said for the 2019 reboot.

I’d bet all thirteen dollars in my bank account that anyone who grew up with the original Lion King can name and sing every song in the movie, and I’d also bet that we all have the same favorite: The Circle of Life. Unless you speak Zulu or have memorized the lyrics, you probably (definitely) can’t sing the first half of it, but we all try anyway because HOT DAMN if it isn’t the most cathartic and powerful song ever. And apparently, humans aren’t the only ones who feel this way.

The Circle of Life is so good, it gets the whole animal kingdom going — including donkeys, who are decidedly not great singers but you gotta applaud that enthusiasm.

Did the Lion King opening and Nathan joined in with me! I love this dude! #DareToShare #IWokeUpLikeThis
