People Are Protesting Trump’s UK Visit And I’m Laughing So Hard
Whenever President Trump schedules visits to foreign countries, regardless of the country or the reason why he’ll be there, you can pretty much guarantee one thing: there’s gonna be protests. Usually these protests take pretty standard form. Street rallies, signs, megaphones, chants, all that run-of-the-mill civil unrest stuff. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with the classics! The people of Britain, however, have been getting pretty imaginative with how they make their feelings for the president known.
You all probably remember the glory that was Giant Trump Baby Blimp since it made its debut in the UK last year, but if you don’t recall — don’t worry, I’m here to remind you.
Last July when Trump visited the UK, the citizens welcomed him with a 20-foot-tall inflatable baby, and while it was a blimp and a cartoon, it definitely looked more like him than his animatronic figure at Disney World.
Naturally, right wing politicians in the UK called this the biggest insult to any sitting president. The activists who crowdfunded the blimp and made this work of political art possible, however, said that in hindsight, they should’ve made a bigger balloon.
So to commemorate his return to the UK tomorrow, this same group of protestors and activists began crowdfunding for the baby Trump blimp once again.
While they didn’t commission a bigger balloon this time around (honestly 20 feet feels like a pretty solid size) they did hit their target to get this spectacular balloon in the air in time for the president’s arrival. And hitting their goal proved to be a pretty easy task — guess the people of the UK really want to see that baby fly.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “the blimp is great, but Trump Baby is too good to be reduced to just ONE thing. We need MORE TRUMP BABY.” And you’re right! Which is precisely why the group behind the blimp decided to project the image of Trump Baby onto the majestic Cliffs of Dover.
And this time they made it 50 feet tall.
Have you ever seen anything more beautiful?
Probably not. Well, not yet.
In protest of Trump’s environmental policies and his determination to speed up climate change, one particularly industrious activist, 18-year-old Ollie Nancarrow, created a work of art that honestly belongs in The Louvre. He mowed a few messages into the grass near the airport — and made sure that they’re definitely large enough for Trump to see from the sky.
The first lawn-note says “Oi Trump” and if the giant letters don’t grab his attention, the giant dick certainly will.
Doesn’t say “welcome to the country” but it’s close enough.
Once the president — and everyone on board the plane — is focused on that initial greeting, Ollie’s next message is extremely straightforward and only uses four small words, which was probably a wise artistic choice.
The two things to take away from this are that taking up a cause and protesting are vital, and that giant penises will never not be funny.
