A Raccoon Was Arrested For Riding The Subway And I Demand Justice
Once every few months, the same story cycles through the news featuring a different culprit. The story usually goes something like, “city animal caught trying to ride the subway,” and ends with the animal being forcefully removed from the train car by authorities. This has happened all over the country with all sorts of critters, from coyotes to pigeons, and now the latest fuzzy little commuter to be caught is this raccoon who admittedly looks like he’s seen better days.
And you know what?
I am sick of it.
I am SICK of the police trying to escort these animals off their chosen means of transportation. “Farebeating bust” they called it. All I see is an urban creature like the rest of us, but very small, trying to make his way from A to B.
He doesn’t even have thumbs and you’re gonna deny him a subway ride? SIR.
You don’t know what kind of stuff he’s got going on, he has very small legs, it takes a long time to get places, and he probably doesn’t even take up a full seat! LET. HIM. RIDE.
Did the arresting officers even stop to ask him any questions? Do we know anything about his story??? Does his family know he’s okay???
That is my large son, please return him

Please, next time you see an animal on the subway in your town, make sure they get to their destination safely. Or at least offer to buy them a ticket to ride.
just a reminder that it’s perfectly legal to swipe raccoons through if you have an unlimited MTA card, i do it all the time https://t.co/cP3LEhbjTn
