This Woman Wanted A “Mariah Carey” Cake — Got “Marie Curie” One Instead
Mariah Carey can be credited for many things. Dubbed “Songbird Supreme”, she had US chart-topping singles for eleven consecutive years, she’s sold over 200 million albums, and most importantly she gifted the world “All I Want For Christmas is You”. A few things she isn’t for, however, are groundbreaking research into radioactivity, being the first woman to win the Nobel Prize, and being the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two different scientific fields.
Nope, that would be Polish scientist Marie Curie.
I know it’s easy to confuse the two though since Mariah Carey did release an album called E=MC² so they’re both mathematical queens.
Apparently, they’re so easy to confuse, that when a woman in the UK asked her coworkers for a Mariah Carey cake, they thought she meant a Marie Curie cake. I guess they just figured she’s a big fan of iconic physicists?

Although it’s not what she wanted, the important thing is that she had a powerful woman’s image on her birthday cake — and it looks like she enjoyed it.
And okay, maybe Mariah isn’t a math queen, but we love her anyway.
